Qualifications :
Licensed or eligible for license with the state of Minnesota and graduate of an accredited college or university with a certificate in Occupational TherapyCertification as a CHTAbility to assist in the development of programs, procedures, policies, and protocolsMust be able to work with all age rangesBLS certificationMinimum of three years' experience working with upper extremity and hand injuries and diagnosesSplint fabrication proficiency for custom orthoticsJob Responsibilities :
Performs an occupational therapy assessment and provides re-assessment as indicated. This may include pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients.Ability to provide occupational therapy services in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.Ability to fabricate hand splints and positioning devices in a timely fashion.Conducts pre-operative education and post-operative rehabilitation for surgical hand diagnosesProvides training in the use of adaptive equipment, compensatory techniques, or modification of task to increase ability to complete safe performance of ADL and functional mobility.Evaluates the need for durable medical equipment.Contributes to safe discharge planning including recommendations for transitioning to the next level of care.Evaluates occupational therapy treatment impact and communicates with the clinician and staff involved in patient care as needed.Charges patients accurately and timely in compliance with departmental policy and in compliance with specifications outlined in the annual CPT publication (current procedural terminology).Demonstrates knowledge of occupational therapy modalities.Participates in the departmental and / or organizational quality improvement process.Meets documentation standards outlined in the occupational therapy competencies.Maintains regulatory requirements, including Minnesota licensure, CHT recertification requirements, and continuing education requirements.Presents at department in-services following participation with continuing education, i.e. discipline specific presentation, department presentation, journal club leader, etc.Participates in internal and external education and / or marketing of rehabilitation services annually.Will adhere to the standards of practice as outlined by the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Minnesota Statues of Public Health Occupations Scope of Practice.Attends department meetings and in-services, as scheduled.Ability to travel between multiple locations.Other responsibilities as assigned.Equal Opportunity Employer / Protected Veterans / Individuals with Disabilities
