Job Summary
Provides care to pregnant and birthing individuals throughout the childbearing cycle including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal care. Provides primary health care services from adolescence through menopause including the provision of gynecologicand family planning services, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, health promotion, disease prevention, and individualizedwellness education and counseling. Supervises and teaches students and residents in the clinical setting. May performadministrative support functions as required.
Essential Functions :
- Evaluates and monitors health condition of patient in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, according to standards of care and current clinical practice guidelines. Refers to specialty services as needed. (15%)
- Assesses the health status of patients by performance of medical record review, thorough health history, and physical examination (15%)
- Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and provides patient care accordingly (10%)
- Admits and discharges patients to and from hospital inpatient care (10%)
- Performs gynecologic and obstetrical procedures within scope of expertise including but not limited to provision of long-acting, reversible contraceptives and limited OB ultrasound (10%)
- Prescribes medications including controlled substances and contraceptives (10%)
- Completes required clinical documentation in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner (10%)
- Supports patient autonomy in decision making through education about health condition and treatment options (10%)
- Teaches and supervises midwifery, nurse-practitioner, and medical students, and residents in the clinical setting (10%)
Education :
Master's Degree Graduate of a nationally accredited midwife degree program RequiredWork Experience :
