Position Summary

Join the Hastings and Prince Edward Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) and make a meaningful impact in mental health care. ACTT provides intensive, community-based support for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness-reducing hospitalizations through wraparound care in clients' own environments.

As a nurse on our team, you'll use strong clinical skills in mental health care, crisis intervention, and medication management, working collaboratively with psychiatrists, social workers, and peer support specialists. This role offers a dynamic mix of independence and teamwork, with Monday-Friday shifts (8 : 00-16 : 00) and one weekend every four weeks.

Required

  • Must be a graduate of a Diploma or Degree Nursing Program and hold a current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Three (3) years of psychiatric nursing experience working with seriously mentally ill clients.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle and automobile insurance
  • (see below for additional information).
  • Recent and related experience in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing.
  • Knowledge and skills in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing.
  • Knowledge and experience in psychosocial rehabilitation with seriously mentally ill clients.
  • Knowledge and experience in the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation.
  • Knowledge of community resources in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
  • Knowledge and experience with vocational approaches, the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively participate in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing and Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
  • Must be able to accept direction and work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have satisfactory attendance record in previous position.
  • Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload.
  • Must be available for all shifts and call on short notice.
  • ADDITIONAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS :
  • Provide a drivers abstract (Motor Vehicle Report) that demonstrates no driving infractions or convictions within the last 3 years.
  • Signed letter attesting to previous automobile insurance, driving the same (or similar) type of vehicle.
  • Provide confirmation of personal automobile insurance (or being listed as a driver on a personal auto insurance policy.

Duties

  • Provide client-centered treatment, rehabilitation and support from a psychiatric nursing perspective.
  • Participate in case conference activities, conduct comprehensive client assessments, and develop individualized client treatment / rehabilitation plans in collaboration with clients, including assertively reaching out to them in their natural environment when necessary.
  • Provide communication, liaison and coordination by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with families, service providers, stakeholders and local employers.
  • Participate on community boards and committees as necessary.
  • Ensure service provision is consistent with local / regional mental health system planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MacIntosh Cancer Clinic. BGH works closely with the other three Quinte Health hospital teams, as well as regional and provincial health centres to serve our communities.
