Job Title : Registered Nurse - Wound Care Profession : Nursing Specialty : Wound Care Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM Hours per Shift : 8 Experience : Two (2) years of Med / Surg experience; Wound and Colostomy experience License : Active RN License Certifications : Current BLS certification Must-Have : Certification in one of the following : Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN), Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON), Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN), Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), or Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC) Description : Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence-related care. Perform focused physical assessments and develop plans of care based on diagnoses and individual client needs. Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate. Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care. Assist in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment. Assess and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff. Work collaboratively with the health care team and make referrals to other disciplines as indicated. Teach, counsel, and assist individuals and families in assuming responsibility for prevention of complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence problems. Develop, provide, and evaluate staff education programs, including new employee orientation, in-services, and continuing education programs. Provide comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries and initiate preventative measures. Communicate challenges identified, including ethical issues and conflict resolution. Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Nursing for Wound Care to recommend best practices based on prudent assessment. Participate in quality improvement activities, including incidence and prevalence studies. Provide culturally competent patient, family, and staff education consistent with various belief systems. Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information according to patient rights policies. Achieve and maintain a level of professional competency through engagement in appropriate activities. Identify available community resources for clients and assist in their utilization. Manage assets related to rented equipment, including specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
