Job Description

Job Title : Radiology Technologist

Profession : Radiology Tech

Shift : 10hr Mids / evening

Hours per Shift : 10 : 30 AM - 9 : 00 PM

Experience : 1+ years of experience in acute care

License / Certifications :

  • Registered Technologist, Radiology - R.T. (R) (ARRT)
  • BLS - Required

Must-Have :

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging, including Surgery and Trauma
  • One year post-certification experience required to evaluate and / or instruct student radiographers
  • Description :

    Provide quality patient care within the medical imaging department.

    Perform high-quality images and exams while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs.

    Follow standards of safe radiation practice.

    Demonstrate leadership abilities and serve as a role model for other associate technologists.

    Act as a clinical resource to students, staff technologists, and other personnel.

    Ensure current standards of practice for the unit are maintained.

    Perform diagnostic radiology procedures while ensuring safety for self, patients, and others.

    Practice all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).

    Produce quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.

    Prepare patients for exams and provide instruction regarding the procedure.

    Respond to the physical and emotional needs of patients and / or their families.

    Assist and position patients during exams.

    Observe patients and equipment during procedures and document any unusual occurrences.

    Facilitate smooth patient flow and optimal use of resources.

    Communicate effectively with all personnel to ensure continuity of care.

    Assist with patient transport as needed.

    Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required.

    Complete required paperwork for each exam performed.

    Prepare rooms, equipment, and exam materials needed for each procedure.

    Maintain the technical operation of equipment and notify service providers when necessary.

    Keep the work area clean for employees and patients.

    Document quality checks and equipment maintenance according to procedure.

    Proactively identify problems and follow up with management.

    Establish constructive rapport with colleagues and departments.

    Maintain high skill levels through ongoing education and information sharing.

    Participate in the clinical training of student radiographers and other healthcare professionals.

    Support the development of clinical skills and explain equipment and procedures.

    Engage in professional activities through involvement in organizations and educational initiatives.

    Participate actively in quality and process improvement initiatives.
