Job Description

The essential functions of the position are to assist judges and magistrates with the timely disposition of cases through case management and case monitoring. The position is responsible for drafting forms and orders; developing case management procedures; communicating with litigants and trial court staff; reviewing filings; managing and preparing cases for court hearings; briefing judges on cases; attending hearings and other trial court proceedings; scheduling hearings; and performing related administrative support functions. The position is responsible for collecting and reporting on case / program data and maintaining databases as needed. The position works under the general supervision of the Court Operations Manager.

Education and Training Guidelines

Prefer a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, criminal justice, psychology, sociology or a closely related subject matter plus three years of court experience.

Seven years of professional administrative or related experience. Education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Competencies

Ability to organize work and establish priorities to meet deadlines;

Ability to handle sensitive matters with integrity and confidentiality;

Ability to draft comprehensive, clear, and concise orders, correspondence and judicial memos; and

Knowledge of the court system.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
