Unit Overview :
Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit , where you'll care for a diverse and complex patient population, including :
Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections.Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program.A high volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, along with medical overflow cases.As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , you will gain exposure to the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge care.

Perform comprehensive assessments of patient needs and implement individualized care plans.Recognize significant changes in patient condition and implement appropriate interventions.Enhance patient safety through risk reduction and patient education.Coordinate discharge plans with an interdisciplinary approach.Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes regularly, taking action when necessary.Foster collaboration among healthcare team members and lead care teams.Report safety events and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.Engage in professional development and contribute to the growth of others.Licensure and Certification :
Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.Education and Experience :
Completion of an accredited nursing program.Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Ability to deliver holistic patient care and address clinical situations from a patient and family perspective.Flexibility and readiness to respond to situational changes.Proficient in electronic medical records and communication tools.Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and colleagues.Capability to make informed, independent decisions quickly.Organizational skills for effective time management.Physical Requirements :
Must be able to perform physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, and lifting as necessary. Exposure to chemicals and biological materials may occur, so appropriate safety measures must be followed.
