About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Pediatric Psych

Profession : Registered Nurse

Shift : 6 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM

Hours per Shift : 36 hours

Experience : Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing required; Pediatric Behavioral Health experience preferred

License : State License required

Certifications : BLS, MOAB obtained on site

Must-Have : De-escalation experience, experience with physical restraints, medication administration, comfort with running groups, and documentation skills

Description : ASAP start needed.

Interviews conducted for the position.

Schedule consists of four days a week from 6 AM to 3 : 30 PM.

Willingness to float between pediatric and adult units as needed is essential.

The facility has 94 beds for patients, including 50 for pediatrics and 44 for adults.

All patients are admitted from an emergency department and must be medically cleared.

Common pediatric diagnoses include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria.

The facility also sees adult patients with diagnoses such as schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder, and may occasionally include cases of substance use disorder or detoxing patients who must be medically cleared.

Seclusion rooms are available and utilized as necessary.

Patient ratios for RNs during the day shift are 1 RN to 5-6 patients and 1 RN to 13 patients at night, with support available.

Psych technicians are present to support care on the pediatric and adult units.

The charting system used is Cerner, and Pyxis is available for medication management.

Travelers may have the opportunity to act as charge nurse, though this is not a requirement.

The unit is supported by nurse supervisors, nurse managers, and other healthcare personnel as needed.

Working weekends and holidays in rotation is expected.

Approval for time off is granted for up to seven days, contingent on the ability to work assigned shifts within each week.

Scrubs must be of solid color and professionally appropriate.
