Four Points Surveying and Engineering (FPSE) is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our growing team for a permanent, full-time position. FPSE is a leading, full-service engineering, consulting, and surveying firm in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, serving Northwest Colorado. Job Description
FPSE is currently seeking a civil designer with land development emphasis, to create detailed engineering design and drafting work products as well as field technician services, including construction oversight and field documentation. Seeking candidates with specific experience in land development, civil infrastructure, planning, permitting, and design of civil and earthwork projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Drafting : Using AutoCAD Civil 3D to create detailed plans and designs for civil engineering projects.
- Project Coordination : Collaborating with civil engineers, architects, and other specialists to ensure project goals are met.
- Compliance : Ensuring designs comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
- Technical Calculations : Performing calculations related to project design, such as storm water management and utility systems.
- Data Analysis : Analyzing existing project sites, maps, and data to inform design decisions.
- Cost Estimation : Assisting with cost estimation by calculating quantities of materials and labor.
- Report Preparation : Preparing technical reports and project presentations.
- Quality Control : Reviewing designs for accuracy, consistency, and constructability.
- Drafting : Preparing sketches, charts, tabulations, plans, and designs for civil engineering works.
- Fieldwork : Performing and directing fieldwork and laboratory testing.
Required Skills and Knowledge
Education : Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.AutoCAD Proficiency : Two year minimum experience in designing and preparing civil engineering construction drawings and documents for commercial and / or residential sites using AutoCAD Civil 3D.Technical Knowledge : Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, regulations, and standards.Analytical Skills : Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and make informed design decisions.Technical Drawing Skills / Drafting : Ability to create and interpret technical drawings with attention to detail.Data Interpretation : Skills in reading and interpreting field notes, maps, and other source material.Communication : Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders.Attention to Detail : Precise and meticulous in drafting and design work.Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to identify and resolve design challenges.Licensing : Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred or Engineer in Training (EIT) with the ability to obtain PE.Benefits
