About the Role
The Company is in need of a Temporary General Counsel with a strong background in private equity, SEC compliance, and the music and entertainment industry, particularly within startup environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal guidance on a range of corporate matters, including governance, private equity, and SEC-related issues. This role also involves advising on employment law, breach of contract, and risk assessment, as well as supporting M&A activities and ensuring compliance with California data privacy laws. The General Counsel will serve as a key liaison between internal departments and external counsel, and will be expected to draft and review various legal documents.
Applicants for the Temporary General Counsel position at the company must be licensed to practice law in California and have a minimum of 5 years' legal experience, with a background that includes both in-house and law firm roles. A strong focus on client-facing legal work, particularly with startups and entertainment companies, is essential. The role requires demonstrated experience in breach of contract litigation, risk management, legal strategy, corporate transactions, and compliance, as well as a deep understanding of data privacy regulations in California. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
