Summary

Pediatric patients and their families deserve tailored care that addresses their psychological, emotional, and developmental needs. As a Child Life Specialist, you will plan, develop, and implement Child Life programming to enhance their hospital experience.

Key Responsibilities :

• Coordinate, schedule, and oversee special events in inpatient pediatric areas, creating memorable experiences for children and families.
• Collaborate with marketing and public affairs for photography, media coverage, and donor engagements to foster community support.
• Develop strategic plans to alleviate children's fears and anxieties about their healthcare environments.
• Prepare patients and families for procedures using therapeutic play activities to ease understanding and participation.
• Evaluate developmental stages and emotional states to identify and apply effective coping strategies for patients and families.
• Implement specialized services to cater to the unique needs of each child.
• Consult with other healthcare professionals on developmental and behavioral concerns affecting patient care.
• Maintain accurate records of Child Life services provided, highlighting the positive impact of the department.
• Oversee budget and resource management for the Child Life department to ensure efficient operations.
• Provide consultations for children of hospitalized patients to support their needs before visitation.

Physical Demands :

This position requires lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs, frequent standing / walking, and capabilities to handle specific patient care tasks, such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
