Sunnyside Care Center is actively looking for a Diet Technician to join our food services team. As a Diet Technician, you will be responsible for assisting the facility in ensuring patient dietary needs are met.
The Diet Technician will also assist in maintaining high standards of patient safety, privacy, care and cleanliness. Previous experience in a medical setting and / or as a Diet Technician is required for this position.
Responsibilities :
Interviews residents upon admission to obtain diet history, food preferences and complete admission screen.
- Documents nutritional reviews in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and under the supervision of Registered Dietitian
- Maintains nutritional progress notes in the electronic medical record in accordance with departmental nutritional standards.
- Counsels residents and families regarding therapeutic diets and nutritional needs.
- Completes quarterly nutritional reviews on all resident’s excluding those deemed high risk (TF, dialysis, pressure ulcers, ongoing sig wt. changes)
- Completes MDS’s and resident care plans
- Completes discharge summaries as indicated.
- Attends and participates in weekly resident care plan meetings.
- Completed resident meal rounds
- Attends and participates in weight / wound meetings
- Carries out plate-waste and intake studies according to departmental standards.
- Functions as an integral member of the Interdisciplinary Team to ensure optimal nutritional care for all residents.
- Assists the Director of Food & Nutritional Services and Consultant Dietitian in menu planning, menu extensions associated with the menu cycle development as needed
- Maintains open communication with the Consultant Dietitian and Director of Food & Nutritional Services.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Food & Nutritional Services and Consultant Dietitian.
Requirements :
AAS degree in Nutrition / DieteticsRegistered Dietetic Technician status strongly preferred.One to two years clinical experience in a long-term care setting.
