The nurse will care for patients with diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory distress or failure, post-surgical conditions, overdose, suicide attempts, and diabetic ketoacidosis. The unit is equipped with Flotrack, Philips bedside monitors, and Baxter IV pumps. The nurse will need to manage ventilated patients and understand the interpretation of arterial blood gases. Additional skills required include accessing and managing ports, central line care, blood product administration, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction or failure. Weekend shifts are required, with a total of 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period. The nurse will also participate in interdisciplinary support with various services such as physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and more. The average daily census is 20 patients with a total of 20 staffed beds in the unit. Travelers can expect to work in a fast-paced environment that focuses on quality patient care. 10 RTO days are allowed during the 13-week contract, with specified blackout periods for time off. Candidates will be considered regardless of whether this is their first travel assignment. Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions.
