The Air Launched Effectors Department is searching for a full time Mechanical Engineer II to assist a multi-discipline team working on the design development and / or production support of products and subsystems for the purpose of giving the U.S. Air Force and our allies an unmatched advantage across every mission phase. From long-range surveillance sensors to command and control to advanced air and ground effectors we provide the technology required to keep the air domain secure.

The primary work location will be on-site at the Raytheon Tucson office. Some travel may be required to meet and work with vendors and to support testing and other activities as needed.

The Mechanical Engineer II will conduct design integration testing and / or production support of mechanical-focused hardware using computer-aided design mechanical analyses and consistent coordination and communication across teams to ensure success.

What You Will Do

• Design and develop various mechanical components etc.
• Perform first-order tolerance analyses
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Electrical Structures Thermal Systems Integration and Test
• Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings and documentation.
• Conduct design reviews and provide technical support throughout the product design.
• Support testing and validation of designs including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
• Contributing to finding solutions to a wide range of technical problems related to the design manufacture integration and production sustainment of various mechanical subsystems including support in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon and at suppliers.
• Supporting first article inspections work instruction reviews material dispositions and root cause investigations to production issues. Decisions are data driven and require preparing technical justification analysis reports and presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.
• Performing mechanical design development and documentation of components subassemblies and end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
• Interfacing with other engineering disciplines non-technical disciplines and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical issues.

Onsite : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 66000 USD - 130000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education / training and key skills.
