Job description

Position Summary

As an international communications and public affairs agency, we place people at the heart of shaping attitudes, behaviors, policies, and creating change. Now, we’re looking for a sharp, strategic, and highly organized Account Executive or Senior Account Executive to join our growing and collaborative Washington, D.C. team.

This role will support government-facing communications work, primarily for a federal agency account focused on clean energy, sustainability, and public engagement. The successful candidate will play a key role in stakeholder research and engagement strategy, crisis monitoring, and project coordination. From mapping policymakers and stakeholders to drafting briefing materials, fact sheets, and meeting memos, this position is essential to ensuring our clients are informed, proactive, and positioned for success.

You’ll work closely with the Account Manager, Account Director, and the Washington office lead on a tight-knit team that values good humor and proactive thinking. The ideal candidate likely has experience in the federal government, thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves learning about complex policy topics, and wants to grow with a mission-driven company. Only candidates located in the greater Washington, D.C. area will be considered.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conducting local, state and federal stakeholder research and analysis, including building and maintaining stakeholder maps and tracking political, governmental, and third-party positions on key issues.
  • Creating public affairs deliverables, including briefing binders, policy backgrounders, talking points, stakeholder engagement memos, and FAQs.
  • Monitoring for emerging issues or crises that may impact the client’s reputation, stakeholders, or communications strategy, and support in rapid response planning.
  • Maintaining and updating stakeholder relationship management tools and databases (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and providing timely updates to internal teams and clients.
  • Supporting social and digital campaign execution in alignment with public affairs goals.
  • Participating in the development of integrated communications strategies that combine media, stakeholder engagement, and digital tools.
  • Attending client meetings and brainstorming sessions; preparing follow-ups, trackers, and summaries.
  • Supporting slide development, planning materials, and insight memos for client reporting and strategy.
  • Assisting with the development of public-facing materials for hearings, events, and advocacy campaigns.
  • Carrying out all other reasonable duties assigned by the company.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in public affairs, communications, or stakeholder engagement roles in government, non-profit, or agency settings.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with federal members of Congress, federal regulators, and staffers.
  • Experience working on Capitol Hill, in a legislative office, or a government agency is preferred.
  • Has an intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
  • Working proficiency in Salesforce and / or other CRM platforms is considered an asset.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Work Hours and Work Environment

    Employees are entrusted to work a schedule that ensures their responsibilities are successfully carried out and that they are reachable by internal and external stakeholders. U.S. employees work two days in the office near Mount Vernon Triangle and three days a week remotely. Business hours are Monday – Friday, 8 : 30 am – 5 : 30 pm, with flexibility as needed.
