Location

Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

The Vice President of Strategy and University Affairs is a pivotal executive leader responsible for aligning Albany State University's long-term strategic vision with operational execution. This role serves as a central integrator, enabling the President's Office to operate with agility, accountability, and data-informed decision-making.

As a key member of the executive team, the Vice President of Strategy and University Affairs will lead data-driven strategic initiatives and oversee critical functions, including Presidential Operations, University Events, Project Management Office, Institutional Research and Effectiveness, Title III administration, and Presidential Office Administration. By grounding institutional planning in robust data and rigorous analysis, this leader will coordinate cross-functional initiatives that advance the university's highest priorities and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities :

The influence of the Vice President of Strategy and University Affairs extends across the university's most critical functions. This role demands a leader capable of integrating disparate operations¿from high-level strategic planning and federal compliance to presidential programming and institutional effectiveness¿into a cohesive and effective whole. Success requires navigating complex internal and external landscapes to ensure all efforts are aligned with the institutional mission.

Strategic Leadership and Integration

  • Drive University-Wide Strategic Planning : Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of the university's strategic plan, ensuring that all institutional activities are purposefully aligned with overarching goals and long-term vision.
  • Oversee Institutional Research and Effectiveness : Champion a culture of evidence-based decision-making by directing the collection, analysis, and dissemination of institutional data, providing critical insights to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functional Initiatives : Serve as a key facilitator for major university projects, breaking down organizational silos to ensure collaborative and efficient execution of strategic priorities that enhance operational excellence.

Presidential Office Administration and Programming

  • Manage Presidential Office Operations : Ensure the highest level of operational excellence and efficiency within the Office of the President, overseeing its day-to-day functions and programming to support the university's executive leadership.
  • Serve as Primary Presidential Liaison : Act as the principal point of contact and communication conduit between the President and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and ensuring clear, consistent messaging.
  • Compliance and Federal Program Oversight

  • Provide Executive Oversight of Title III Programs : Ensure meticulous administration and compliance for Title III programs, establishing clear lines of accountability that extend to the presidential and cabinet levels.
  • Monitor Federally Funded Programs : Maintain rigorous oversight of all federally funded programs, guaranteeing strict adherence to all reporting requirements and performance standards to safeguard institutional integrity and funding.
  • Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness

  • Lead Accreditation and Continuous Improvement : Direct the university's accreditation readiness efforts, driving a campus-wide culture of continuous improvement that safeguards the university's academic reputation and ensures its standing with key accrediting bodies.
  • Represent the President's Office in Strategic Partnerships : Collaborate with the Chief University Growth Officer on institutional academic and operational programming related to federal and state initiatives, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and institutional priorities.
  • Operational Oversight

  • Implement Systems for Accountability : Develop and implement transparent systems and processes to track progress on strategic initiatives, ensuring clear accountability and measurable results across the university.
  • The comprehensive and demanding nature of these responsibilities necessitates a candidate with a distinguished record of leadership and a specific, well-honed set of qualifications.
  • Works with the University's senior administrative team to develop and execute university-wide strategic plans and institutional goals.
  • Required Qualifications

    Required Qualifications :

    A master's degree in higher education, public administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.

    A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education administration, strategic planning, or a closely related field.

    Proven expertise in designing, building, and executing complex projects and strategic initiatives from concept to completion, driving alignment and engagement across diverse internal and external stakeholders.

    Ability to travel frequently within the scope of the position.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications :

    An earned doctorate or other terminal degree, preferably in counseling, student personnel, higher education administration, or a related field.

    Experience using data-driven evidence and proven practices to analyze problems / issues and identify solutions.

    Expertise in managing budgets, personnel, and complex organizational structures within a higher education setting.

    Proposed Salary

    Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
