Job Summary
The Division of Nephrology is part of the Department of Internal Medicine. The position requires excellent customer service skills, both in person and over the phone, as well as promptness, initiative, teamwork, organization, and sound judgment in applying established practices. The incumbent must demonstrate a strong work ethic, excellent computer skills, and the ability to be a self-starter and a solution seeker. The incumbent reports directly to the Division Manager, who oversees the Division's academic and clinical activities. The position requires excellent judgment and communication skills to interact professionally with University administrators, faculty, clinic and laboratory personnel, staff, students, and the general public. Assigned duties must be performed with a high level of service and with discretion when handling sensitive and confidential issues at various levels. The ability to maintain a professional attitude in a busy environment and to initiate and foster a team-oriented environment with other assistants in the Division and the Department is essential.

Department Overview
The Division of Nephrology, within the Department of Internal Medicine, comprises 15 full-time nephrology faculty, 4 staff physicians, 6 fellows, and 5 office staff dedicated to advancing clinical care, research, education, and public service missions in kidney medicine.
Department Specific Job Scope
Under the general direction of the Division Manager, this position provides high-level administrative support to 15 faculty, 6 fellows, and 4 staff physicians, coordinating day-to-day business operations for two sites (the health system in Sacramento and the Davis campus) as well as multiple satellite dialysis facilities. Responsibilities include reception duties; administrative support to the division's core leadership (Division Chief, Clinic Director, Fellowship Directors), faculty, staff physicians, and fellows; finance and purchasing administration (travel / entertainment reimbursements, purchase requests); scheduling (including management of faculty leave requests via Lightning Bolt); facilities maintenance; and information technology support (access requests). The position also serves as back-up for fellowship program administration and for academic and staff physician administration (recruitment, appointment, merit, promotion, appraisal, medical staff administration, physician credentials, and professional billing). Additional duties include support for educational programs (journal club, case conference, renal grand rounds, annual CME symposium), website management, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
