Specialty Representative, Gastroenterology – Louisville, KY
This role is field-based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience. This geography covers Louisville, Evansville, Bloomington, Owensboro, and Elizabethtown.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
- Create pre‑call plans using SMART objectives and execute post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns, consistently gaining logical and reasonable calls to action to close every sales call.
- Proactively serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs and expectations, the territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, product, clinical, and sales expertise; share this market intelligence with in‑field team, brand team, and sales manager to achieve alignment and anticipate environmental changes.
- Differentiating AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers, identifying, developing, and maintaining disease‑state experts and speakers / advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business‑related field preferred; equivalent industry experience required.At least five (5) years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree; three (3) or more years within the pharmaceutical / health / science industry preferred; high school diploma or GED required.In‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders; strong business acumen and strategic, critical thinking capabilities; operates effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize business opportunities.Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills; proactively identifies customer style / behavior and adapts quickly; provides impact with ideas for the larger organization and responds to changes.Influencing others and viewed as a credible, respected role model; builds collaborative partnership with district colleagues; leads by example and consistently displays positive behaviors and peer coaching.Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility at the district, region, and / or organizational levels.Preferred : Proven success in sales performance within therapeutic areas; experience in physician / account‑based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English language proficiency.Essential : Satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements, maintain eligibility, and remain in good standing to gain and maintain entry into facilities within the territory.Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre‑employment drug screening; safe driving requirements; driving a personal auto, company vehicle, or powered material handling equipment.Key Stakeholders
External : Specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other brand plan stakeholders.
Internal : In‑field team members, sales management (DSM), marketing management, training, customer excellence, and brand plan stakeholders.
