Schedule / Hours : Full-time, evening shifts (8 or 10 hours), Monday-Friday with on-call responsibilities, primarily overnight (5-8 calls) and 1-2 weekend call slots within an 8-week schedule. On-call hours may vary based on staffing, with a requirement for arrival within 30 minutes.
Major Responsibilities :
Ensure a clean and safe environment conducive to optimal patient care using aseptic techniques during surgical preparations.Participate in a variety of procedures while maintaining basic knowledge of surgical processes.Set up the operating room efficiently, managing equipment and supplies pre- and post-surgery.Assist as a Second Assistant when necessary.Communicate issues related to equipment or supplies promptly.Transport patients and manage equipment safely.Maintain a specialty cart, ensuring its completeness and readiness.Position and transport patients effectively, adhering to safety practices.Exhibit knowledge of patient care appropriate to their age, developing skills to assess their specific needs.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within 6 months of hire if not already certified.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.Experience Required :
No previous experience required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Understanding of aseptic techniques for surgical preparation.Knowledge of operating room equipment and safety standards.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer proficiency.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Able to perform in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and carry equipment as needed.Ability to push / pull using 30 lbs of force and perform patient transfers with assistance.Exposed to potential hazards; must take safety precautions.Ability to work in various positions (sitting, standing, lifting) frequently throughout the shift.This job description outlines the main responsibilities and requirements for the position, and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
