The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care by following individualized nursing care plans and ensuring compliance with Select Medical’s core values and safety standards. This role includes supervising LPNs, CNAs, and orientees while maintaining a safe environment for both patients and staff.

Key responsibilities include performing comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission, developing and updating care plans, documenting all assessments and interventions accurately, and actively participating in weekly team conferences. The RN oversees direct patient care using the nursing process—assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating—with a strong emphasis on patient and family education.

The RN initiates discharge planning from the day of admission, communicates changes in patient status promptly, and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care. The role also involves delegating tasks appropriately, promoting unit teamwork, monitoring supplies, ensuring cost-effective care delivery, and assuming charge nurse responsibilities when needed.
