Public Health Student Worker

Job Summary :

The Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife Genetics Institute is seeking studentworkers in the Research Institute assisting with daily tasks and educational outreach programs for Lyme disease and tick prevention. The successful candidate will assist with the laboratory’s customer service which includes assisting customer which walk-in for tick submissions, customer phone calls, filing and scanning documents. This is a unique opportunity to support public health education and scientific research while working in collaboration with stakeholders and the community.

Responsibilities :

  • Assist customers who walk-in or call the laboratory regarding the submission of a tick for testing, completing the tick submission survey, taking payments, and answering questions related to ticks and our testing services.
  • Communicating with customers effectively on the ordering process, proper submission of samples, and result status.
  • Attend public outreach events to assist with presentation and organization.
  • Assist with collecting survey data, inputting data, and conducting statistical analysis.
  • Prepare reports related to the DNA Lab and PA Tick Research Lab.
  • Assist with tracking and maintaining all inventory for office supplies and laboratory supplies.

Requirements :

  • Registered student pursuing a bachelors or graduate degree in public health, biological sciences, or related degree, with an overall GPA of or higher.

  • Successful candidates must be self-motivated, organized, and independent.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Hours :   Up to hours a week

    Pay :  $ per hour

    Start Date :  May 12, 2025

    End Date :   August 22, 2025

    Housing :  Student housing is available upon request.
