About Mon Ami Real Estate

Mon Ami Real Estate (“Mon Ami”) is a privately held real estate investment firm based in Chicago, specializing in the acquisition, management, and repositioning of diversified assets nationwide. Since 2010, Mon Ami has built a portfolio of over 250 commercial and residential properties across 22 states, consistently delivering above-market returns for its principals, investors, and joint venture partners.

Through a vertically integrated platform and a hands-on management approach, Mon Ami identifies value-add opportunities across asset classes including multifamily, retail, office, and industrial. Our experienced in-house team drives every stage of the investment lifecycle—from sourcing and underwriting to redevelopment and strategic disposition—maximizing long-term value and operational performance.

With a proven track record and a compound annual growth rate exceeding 50%, Mon Ami remains focused on disciplined growth, operational excellence, and creating outsized value for stakeholders.

About Your Role

As Manager of Development & Construction you will directly influence the repositioning, redevelopment, and enhancement of a growing portfolio of diverse assets. You will lead the charge on development strategies that optimize returns, drive long-term value, and position Mon Ami as a market leader in opportunistic real estate investing.

What You’ll Do

Develop and execute strategic redevelopment plans aligned with the firm's investment goals — from feasibility analysis and market research to final completion.

Lead full-cycle development processes, including due diligence, entitlement, permitting, design development, budgeting, construction management, and close-out.

Oversee major CapEx initiatives across retail, industrial, flex, and residential assets, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Manage project budgets exceeding $10M, monitor cost control measures, and deliver financial reporting on project performance.

Lead complex tenant build-outs and national retail tenant improvements, collaborating closely with leasing teams during lease negotiations.

Select and manage external teams of architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors; negotiate contracts, oversee draw processes, and drive value engineering.

Ensure adherence to local zoning, permitting, REAs, lease provisions, and all applicable regulations.

Establish and continuously refine development standards, scalable workflows, approval protocols, and best practices to enable sustainable portfolio growth.

Proactively identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve issues swiftly and effectively.

Build and lead a high-performing internal team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Deliver clear, consistent project updates and performance reporting to executive leadership.

Who You Are

Bachelor's degree in real estate development, construction management, finance, urban planning, architecture, or a related field.

5+ years of progressive experience leading value-add and repositioning real estate projects.

Proven track record managing end-to-end development initiatives, including complex entitlement and permitting processes.

Expertise in development financial modeling, pro forma analysis, budgeting, and cost control.

Strong knowledge of design, engineering, construction methods, contract negotiation, and project management best practices.

Experience managing developments valued at $10M+.

Outstanding leadership, team-building, communication, and negotiation skills.

Proficiency in project management software and Google Suite / Microsoft Office Suite.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Experience across multiple asset classes — especially retail with national / big-box tenants, flex spaces, and rural industrial.

Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED AP, or CCM.

Location : Chicago, IL (On-Site Role)

Compensation : $100,000 - $125,000 base + performance-based bonus + comprehensive benefits + long-term growth opportunities available.
