ECHO / Cardiac Sonographer – Unit Notes

50-Mile Radius Rule Applies

Certifications : BLS required; RCS or RDCS for Echo

Dept Setup : Hospital has 5 echo rooms; Clinic has 3 (walking distance). Floating between sites required.

Studies / Duties : Complete transthoracic echo, myocardial strain, bubble studies, contrast imaging; assist with TEE. Must follow ASE guidelines.

Volume : Avg 8 studies / day

Systems : EMR – EPIC; PACS – IBM Merge

Equipment : Philips EPIQ & iE33

Leadership : Non-Invasive Supervisor; Cardiologist on-site

Other Requirements : May start IVs if trained / checked off

Schedule : 8 : 30a–5 : 00p; possible weekends & holidays; no call

Dress Code : Any color scrubs; not provided
