General Summary :
The Accountant plays a vital role in supporting the financial health of Goodwill South Central Wisconsin by performing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial records. Key responsibilities include entering and reviewing financial data, conducting complex reconciliations, and maintaining compliance with relevant accounting standards. The Accountant will also prepare financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax obligations, and other key financial activities, contributing to informed decision-making and overall organizational success.

Key Responsibilities
- Verify, consolidate, and reconcile sales and revenue transactions for Goodwill stores and mission programs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and file accurate sales tax calculations and reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the payroll specialist to review wages and benefits and ensure accurate payroll entries from our HRIS system Paylocity, including monthly payroll accrual.
- Perform A / R billing and collection duties.
- Monitor inventory activities and record expenses accordingly.
- Monitor grant expenditures and ensure alignment with budgets.
- Support the research into questions from department managers about income and expense transactions.
- Perform month-end closing, within expected deadlines, including :
- Reconcile bank accounts and record applicable transactions.
- Reconcile general ledger activities and prepare journal entries.
- Capitalize applicable expenditures into fixed assets. Calculate and record monthly depreciation expenses.
- Prepare intercompany invoices and reconcile transactions between entities
- Manage multiple prepaid and loan schedules.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements ensuring compliance with GAAP principles and company policies.
- Support the annual budget preparation process.
- Continuously assess and improve financial processes and systems.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting rules and regulations that may impact Goodwill's financial well-being.

Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is requireThree to five years of accounting experience preferred.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and accounting principles (GAAP / IFRS).Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software, or similar cloud-based GL systems is preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel is required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
