Critical Care STAT Registered Nurse, Nights, 36 hrs / week

Join our dedicated team as a STAT level Clinical Support Nurse, where you will play a vital role in patient care for those experiencing health alterations. Your expertise will be critical in assessing patient responses to health issues, implementing effective nursing interventions, and ensuring optimal outcomes to help patients achieve homeostasis.

As a STAT Nurse, you'll exercise your judgment in handling a wide range of patient problems, collaborating effectively with diverse medical and nursing teams to ensure comprehensive care across acute medical / surgical units, intensive care settings, and the Emergency Department.

The STAT team is composed of highly trained critical care nurses available around the clock to address urgent medical needs for patients, staff, and visitors at Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College. You will also have the opportunity to enhance the skills of other healthcare providers through educational initiatives focused on recognizing clinical deterioration and proactive assessment strategies.

Responsibilities :

• Conduct problem-focused physical exams to evaluate and treat patients according to established protocols.
• Stabilize patients showing signs of decompensation both on general floors and in ICUs.
• Oversee ICU patients who are being managed on non-ICU floors.
• Coordinate the transfer of patients to higher levels of care when required.
• Utilize the chain of command to resolve complex issues effectively.
• Assist staff and visitors in navigating to the Emergency Department following Code Gray incidents.
• Administer IV push medications such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Hydralazine on applicable units.

Qualifications :

To succeed in this role, you should be a graduate of a professional academic nursing program and hold current RN registration to practice in New York. A minimum of three (3) years of recent intensive care experience in specific patient populations is required, along with BLS / ACLS certification.
