Hours : Works a varied schedule Hours of Operation : Monday through Friday, 8 : am–4 : pm
General Statement of Duties : Under the general direction of the Senior Center Program Director, assists with overall operations of the Senior Center. Assist in planning, leading and evaluating programs, activities, trips and special events. One primary focus for this position is to engage and encourage participants to be fully involved in programs and activities.
Job Duties :
Assist with planning and facilitating daily, weekly and monthly activities and events.
Handle logistics to make activities and events possible, such as making phone calls, distributing advertisements and managing inventory.
Have knowledge of all programs to better answer member questions.
Be the main point of contact for the Senior Center, welcoming members and guests, and directing people as needed.
Assist and lead group activities when needed.
Responsible for assisting members with the computer check in system.
Conduct monthly new member orientation and / or building tours.
Coordinates with the main office for trip refunds and membership reimbursements.
Responsible for opening and closing the building daily.
Represent the Senior Center at community special events.
Office work includes answering phones, maintaining attendance records, basic computer data entry, taking memberships and signing members up for various events.
Attendance is essential at special events, such as the Annual Member Picnic, Senior Center Craft Fair and monthly dances.
May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.
Other Job Duties : Performs other related duties as necessary.
Physical Demands :
Occasionally ascends / descends a ladder to stock shelves or retrieve items.
Frequently sets up and moves card tables for activities
Frequently assists in setting up tables
Work Environment :
Must be able to concentrate with constant interruption and remember multiple assignments.
Employees may be exposed to dust and fluctuation in inside temperature.
Qualifications
Qualifications :
Experience working with a senior population is preferred.
Ability to relate in a positive, courteous and cheerful manner to a senior population and the general public.
Display a willingness to be available to the service of the members.
Self-motivated with the ability to organize and prioritize work assignments.
Ability to multi-task and act independently.
Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, members and the general public.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
