Special Investigative Services Technician
Summary : Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. Responsibilities include assisting the Special Investigative Agent (SIA) / Special Investigative Supervisor (SIS) in investigations, developing reports, preparing correspondence, maintaining evidence, and providing computer support.
Requirements : U.S. Citizenship is required. Career Transition Assistance Programs (CTAP) apply to Federal and / or Department of Justice employees who meet the definition of surplus or displaced from a position in the competitive service. To receive selection priority, applicants must meet CTAP eligibility criteria, be rated well-qualified, and submit appropriate documentation.
Qualifications : To be considered for the position, you must meet the following : Education or experience equivalent to at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level. Examples include assisting in conducting investigations, demonstrating knowledge of investigative techniques, control of evidence, and use of current telephone monitoring equipment, drug test kits, and media recording devices.
Additional Information : Appointment is subject to a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks. A Core Value Assessment (CVA) must be completed within a 70-minute time period with a passing score of 68. Successful completion of the "Introduction to Correctional Techniques" training course is required. You may be required to provide proof of residence.
