John Knox Village is a not-for-profit Life Care Retirement Community offering a full range of independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care options for more than 1,000 senior residents on our 70-acre campus, located in Pompano Beach, convenient to major highways and transportation options.

Your day as a EMT / Security Officer

As a Full-Time EMT / Security Officer at John Knox Village of Florida, you will be the first line of response to emergency calls from Residents, Employees, and Visitors, ensuring that every situation is handled efficiently and professionally. Your role will involve greeting individuals with empathy and care, providing immediate assistance when emergencies arise. When not actively responding to calls, you'll be stationed at pivotal points such as the gate or front desk, or performing roving duties throughout our vibrant community.

This position allows you to combine your emergency medical skills with a commitment to safety and customer service, making a meaningful impact in a supportive environment.

Are you the EMT / Security Officer we're looking for?

To excel as a Full-Time EMT / Security Officer at John Knox Village of Florida, candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and maintain a State Certified EMT Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic license. A valid driver's license is required, alongside 1 to 3 years of related experience in emergency response or security. Strong attention to detail and effective note-taking skills are essential for documenting incidents and ensuring clarity in communication. The ability to manage stressful situations while multitasking is crucial, as emergencies often require quick thinking and decisive action. Additionally, candidates must be physically fit, capable of sitting, standing, and patrolling for extended periods, with the ability to lift at least 100 pounds and push 50 pounds.

Flexibility in movement is necessary to repeatedly bend, kneel, and respond to varying situations, while maintaining BLS certification through the American Heart Association ensures readiness for any emergency.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are :

• High School Diploma or GED
• Possess and maintain a State Certified EMT Basic Intermediate or Paramedic license
• Valid Driver's License
• 1 to 3 years of related experience
• Must have strong attention to detail and note taking skills
• Ability to effectively manage stressful situations and more than one task at a time
• Must be able to sit
• stand and patrol for long periods of time
• Ability to lift at least 100 pounds
• push at least 50 pounds and have the stamina endurance
• flexibility to repeatedly lift bend and kneel
• Have and maintain BLS through AHA
