Position Overview : Senior Accountant
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Senior Accountant to lead and oversee the organization's Service Division's accounting functions. This role plays a critical part in overseeing accurate billing, job costing, maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing subcontractor documentation and processes ensuring profitability for the division. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable managing a high volume of transactions in a dynamic construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Be detail oriented and oversee the service revenue and expenses.
- Ensure the integrity of accounting data by recording, verifying, consolidating, and overseeing that transactions are entered accurately.
- Prepare and record assets, liability, revenue, and expense entries through account analysis.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, posting, and reconciling transactions.
- Analyze financials on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Manage the general ledger, prepare trial balances, and reconcile entries for monthly and annual close.
- Supervise subcontractor compliance, including contracts, COIs, and payment schedules.
- Prepare financial statements including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and custom reports.
- Generate and process accounts payable and receivable invoices, customer billings, and vendor payments.
- Manage and process payroll accurately and timely in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure payroll records are up to date and support month-end reconciliations and journal entries.
- Lead external audit processes by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and payroll data and ensure proper database backups.
- Mentor and evaluate junior accounting team members and support department workflow.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA candidate or license preferred .
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or contracting industries.
- Familiarity with managing multiple legal entities and complex general ledger structures.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting / payroll software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar).
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and audit preparation.
