ICU RN Job Details

Location : Frankfort, KY 40601 (Central Kentucky healthcare jobs)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1470 - $1570

Setting : 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 1 / 2025 – End : 3 / 2 / 2026)

Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM), three shifts per week, every other weekend required

Hours per Week : 36

Patient Ratios : 2 : 1 or 3 : 1

Unit Staffing : Clinical Nurse Coordinators, Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, Nurse Externs

Equipment : Philips Telemetry, Baxter pumps, iMobile, ventilators, glucometer

Documentation : Meditech Expanse

Floating : May float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU), 3rd floor, or Emergency Department (ED)

Dress Code : Navy or gray scrubs

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience in a hospital setting

Active Kentucky or Compact RN license required

BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)

Current NIH Stroke Scale certification (annual renewal required)

Clinical proficiency in CPAP / BiPAP management, port access, and therapeutic phlebotomy

Preferred experience with chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, blood transfusion, and ventilators

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU

Monitor and manage patients using advanced ICU equipment and technology

Perform and assist with procedures such as telemetry monitoring, BiPAP, and therapeutic phlebotomy

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Float to other units as needed (PCU, 3rd floor, Emergency Department)

Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Meditech Expanse

Participate in staff and hospital celebrations, recognition programs, and ongoing professional development
