Job Details

  • Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others.
  • Delivers patient care incorporating Relationship Centered Care and nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care needs applying critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team in plan of care development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Prioritizes patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning after hospital care, and delegating as appropriate.
  • Educates patients and caregivers about plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family, and healthcare team.
  • Manages assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.
  • Role models Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through various patient care actions.
  • Considers patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs in care.
  • Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Uses evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care.
  • Initiates service recovery and escalates concerns as needed.
  • Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.
  • Supports staff use of evidence-based practices.
  • Conducts Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing the 4 Ps.
  • Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
  • Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety.
  • Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional and evidence-based procedures.
  • Engages in peer and institutional review processes.
  • Collaborates on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies.
  • Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures.
  • Implements high reliability principles to avoid high risk behaviors.
  • Escalates potential safety hazards following institutional protocols.
  • Utilizes institutional IT for documentation supporting quality and performance improvement.

    • Job Requirements

  • NYS RN License required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of child / adolescent psychiatric experience.
  • 1 year travel experience required for Travel positions, not required for Per Diem positions.
  • EPIC experience highly preferred.

    • Schedule Information

  • 3x12 hour shifts schedule.
  • Weekends required.

    • Unit Specific Information

  • 5W Psychiatric Unit.
  • Patient population includes child / adolescent psychiatric patients.
  • Staffing ratio 1 : 6.
  • Unit census average 13 patients.
  • Unit has 17 beds.

  • Unit has an average census of 13 patients.

  • Staffing guidelines are 1 nurse to 6 patients.
