We are seeking a seasoned and strategic-minded Business Operations Director to lead the operational functions of our technical organization, reporting to the CTO. This critical leadership role will be responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing mechanisms, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to support the company's growth and objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in operational leadership roles within the technology industry, with a strong focus on driving efficiency, scalability, and innovation.
This position will be a remote / hybrid role with a preferred location of Boston, the NYC metropolitan area, the Bay Area or Seattle.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive operational strategy aligned with the company's overall objectives and growth plans.
- Lead efforts to optimize and streamline operational mechanisms across various departments, leveraging automation, technology, and best practices to drive efficiency and scalability.
- Foster collaboration and alignment across departments, working closely with executive leadership, product development, sales, finance, HR, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of business initiatives.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure operational performance, track progress, and drive continuous improvement.
- Help develop, audit and report on the critical SMART goals for the organization that align and support the company strategy and the technical organizations plans / roadmaps.
- Develop exceptional executive communication including crisp, actionable Senior Leadership and Board updates.
- Collaborate with finance and executive leadership to develop and manage the operational budget, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Identify potential risks to business operations and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring business continuity and resilience.
- Oversee relationships with external vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
- Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to the organization's operations, ensuring compliance and recommending adjustments as necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, communication, computer science, or a related field; or equivalent experience10 years operations experience at a technology company or working on technology related initiatives.Proven track record managing complex, large scale, and cross functional programs, that include software product development and GTM initiatives.Strong knowledge of product and program management methodologies, frameworks, and toolsExperience handling complex tasks such as project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder management.Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.Experience developing and presenting operating models, program plans, status etc. to large audiences and senior executives.Strong communicator with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing, comfort in business and technical discussions.Self-starter, adaptable and flexible who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative high-growth environment.Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results.IDG is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $230,000 and $270,000 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).
