Catawba Industrial Rubber Co, a Singer Industrial Company, is searching for a Waterjet & CNC Machinist in our Charlotte, NC facility . Position Summary :

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Waterjet and CNC Machinist to operate, program, and maintain CNC and waterjet cutting machines. The ideal candidate will have experience working with various materials, reading technical drawings, and following precise specifications to produce high-quality parts.

What you’ll do :

  • Set up and operate CNC machines (mills / lathes) and abrasive waterjet cutting systems .
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical schematics.
  • Load materials and calibrate machinery for each project.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and accuracy of cuts.
  • Inspect finished products using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.).
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other shop personnel to optimize production processes.

What you’ll need :

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience operating CNC and / or waterjet machines .
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Mach3).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Forklift or crane certification is a plus.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Team player with ability to handle multiple tasks when required.
  • Prior industrial experience preferred.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and / or move objects up to 50 pounds.
