Behavioral Health - Remote in ND - Financial Counseling Supervisor

As a Supervisor of Financial Counseling , you will oversee a statewide team dedicated to assisting clients in navigating financial options within the complex healthcare environment. You will work with uninsured and underinsured clients to educate them on their options, prevent financial crises, manage medical debt, and achieve both short- and long-term financial goals. Collaboration with the Revenue Cycle team is essential to ensure that clients receive information about federal, state, and local programs that may cover their medical services.

Once appropriate coverage is identified, you will help clients understand out-of-pocket costs, such as co-payments, deductibles, and co-insurances, enabling them to make informed decisions about their healthcare expenses and focus more on their clinical needs. You will also identify clients who may benefit from coverage both before and after their care, using data analytics to recognize patterns and opportunities to better serve our population.

Your assist in the completion of coverage applications, both manually and through automated systems. You will work closely with the Client Access Manager and other team members to update policies and procedures related to the governance of this program. A strong understanding of payer requirements and the available federal, state, and local programs for the uninsured and underinsured is crucial. Additionally, you must ensure the privacy and security of personal identifiable information, adhering to HIPAA guidelines.

To thrive in this position, you need to be able to coach, guide, and inspire your team, helping them navigate challenging situations and effectively assist clients in obtaining eligible coverage. A commitment to ongoing learning and adaptability to dynamic healthcare policies is essential. Your approach should be compassionate and sensitive, valuing relationships and demonstrating initiative in problem-solving and policy development. Effective communication in clear, accessible terms is important, as is the ability to connect organizational processes and foster collaborative relationships. Certification as a Certified Application Counselor (CAC) for working in a Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) is required or expected, and you should have prior experience in financial counseling, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
