Job Summary
A full time Advanced Practice Profession, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Western University Medical Centers and be involved with both patient care and student instruction Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with health care professionals and patients.
2. Must have working knowledge of common desktop computer software, including basic familiarity with Electronic Medical Record and tablet based health record systems and have a general knowledge of audio-video recording systems.
3. Must be able to function independently, make sound judgment calls, and be able to practice within the full scope of the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License
4. Must have an active Driver’s License and the ability to drive to the local Renal Replacement Therapy (Dialysis) centers. Required Qualifications 1. EDUCATION :
Physician Assistant) Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
or (Nurse Practitioner) FNP and National Certification required
2. EXPERIENCE : Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare deliver
3. LICENSURE :
Physician Assistant) California Physician Assistant License and NCCPA Certification required
Nurse Practitioner) FNP and National Certification required
4. HEALTH CLEARANCE : Must submit all required health related documents prior to employment. May be required to maintain annual records for items such as TB clearance.
5. BACKGROUND CHECK : A background check may be initiated that may include criminal, employment, educational, and financial history.
Preferred Qualifications 1. Bilingual (English / Spanish) candidates will be given strong preference.
Essential Job Duties Key Responsabilities 1) Quality Care. Provides quality patient care within scope of the license as an integral part of the healthcare team. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide efficient quality patient care. Assesses and monitors patient response to procedures and treatments. Reports patient condition and reaction to tests, drugs, treatments, and any significant incidents to the attending physician. Document patient encounters in a clear and timely manner in the patient’s electronic health record. Provides care coordination for the patients in-between visits including returning patient calls, medication refills, interacting with other members of the healthcare team etc. with the goal of optimizing patient health outcomes. Key Responsabilities 2. Plan of Care. Establishes and implements the plan of care for patients by evaluating all pertinent information and collaborating with healthcare team. Orders diagnostic tests and procedures, medication, consultations, work-ups, etc within scope of practice. Key Responsabilities 3) Patient Education. Provides educational information to patients, family, etc. Key Responsabilities 4) Teaching. Oversees teaching of students during rotations in the Medical Center. Key Responsabilities 5) Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position and future growth of the practice and / or University.
