Job description

Avera Medical Group is seeking a BE / BC Radiation Oncologist to join a highly integrated Radiation Oncology Service Line team of 7 physicians serving six Avera Cancer Institutes spanning a footprint of 72,000 square miles in SD and southwest Minnesota.

Opportunity will provide service to the Avera Cancer Institutes in Yankton, SD :

  • Avera Cancer Institute Yankton-Radiation Oncology currently features :
  • VMAT, IMRT & 3D Conformal External Beam Radiation Therapy
  • Monday-Fri 8am - 4 : 30pm
  • Raystation / MIM Treatment Planning
  • Elekta Infinity Accelerator and Mosaiq EMR
  • Highly regarded care team with great patient scores

  • New Comprehensive Cancer will open in early 2026

Newly renovated facility will offer medical oncology, radiation oncology with a newly installed Varian TrueBeam, chemotherapy infusion, clinical research, pharmacy, laboratory, chapel / meditation room, wig salon, genetic counseling and other support services.

  • Avera has extensive expertise and technology in creating a new solutions to providing specialty care in rural areas. Averas mission leads us to provide equal access to vital health care services, regardless of whether people live in rural or urban areas.
  • Join a highly integrated Radiation Oncology Service Line team of 7 Radiation Oncologists across Averas footprint
  • Single Radiation Oncology EMR and Treatment Planning Software across all six Radiation Oncology sites
  • Opportunity to participate in Service Line Committees :   Chart Rounds, Multidisciplinary Conferences in a wide variety of diseases, Clinical Quality Review, Service line Steering Committees and Cancer Committee
  • 1 : 8 Service Line weekend call rotation, first call is taken by our Avera Cancer Institute Navigation Center
  • 24 / 7 Oncology Nursing first-call coverage through the navigation center
  • Our comprehensive cancer program includes not only Radiation Oncology, but also includes Medical Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, Hematology, Transplant & Cellular Therapy, Comprehensive Breast Surgery, Cancer Research, Palliative Medicine, Integrative Medicine and more
