Description :
Need two supervisor references at submission; one within the last 12 months and one within the last 3 years worked.
Travelers will work two of the three major holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s.
Unit managers will make the final call on scheduling, though holiday time off will be considered.
Dysrhythmia exam (basic) through Relias is required prior to acceptance.
This must be completed within 24-48 hours of acceptance.
A screenshot showing the number of attempts at the exam is also required.
Facility-wide orientation takes place in the main location.
The unit has a 10-bed capacity with swing bed capacity.
Bed population mix can vary depending on census.
Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, and PALS (preferred).
Patient ratios are generally 1 : 2 or 1 : 3 in step-down and swing beds.
Electronic medical records system utilized is Cerner.
Charge nurses generally do not take patients but may provide break relief.
Nurse aides are available based on census and staffing.
Weekend requirements include working every other weekend.
Holiday shifts rotate with core staff.
Scrub color is navy, with mandatory under shirts being navy, white, or black.
Scrub jackets are optional but must be navy.
Telemetry care is provided; candidates must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
Ventilator management experience is required.
Hospitalist or intensivist is available onsite.
Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.
Shifts are 12 hours long, starting at 6 : 45 PM.
Report is conducted at the bedside.
Extra shifts may be available, and self-scheduling is utilized but not finalized until management balances it.
Schedules are released four weeks in advance.
Floor-specific orientation is typically one to two days with a preceptor.
Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, sepsis, DKA, GI bleed, and psych holds with sitters for agitated patients.
Travelers will not take pediatric patients but may have post-anesthesia care unit patients after hours.
Tele-medicine technology is utilized.
COVID requirements include a medical declination accompanied by a physician's note, or a religious declination without supporting documentation.
The facility can cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment.
Charting is completed using the Cerner system.
