This position requires working night shifts. The average annual deliveries in the unit is approximately 2000. The unit has 8 private labor rooms and 4 private triage beds. There are 2 OB operating rooms available. The patient population includes both low-risk and high-risk cases. High-risk cases may involve maternal-fetal medicine. Employees are expected to assist with circumcision and assess post-operative sites. Support services include respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. The unit treats high-risk diagnoses such as gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. Routine procedures include cesarean sections, OB PACU, and cerclage. Special equipment in use includes patient transfer devices. Staffing ratios are 1-2 patients per nurse during shifts. Candidates may be required to float within their scope of practice. References are required as part of the hiring process. It is expected that the nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. The clinical setting demands knowledge of neonatal resuscitation and postpartum hemorrhage management. Additional expectations involve maintaining peripheral IV lines and managing labor triage.
