The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology is searching for a full-time neuro-oncologist faculty member at any rank for the role of Medical Director of Neuro-Oncology. As Medical Director, the appointee will oversee growth in the neuro-oncology program, participate in strategic planning with the neuroscience service line leaders, and collaborate with leaders in Neurosurgery, Radiation Oncology, and Hematology / Oncology. The appointee will be responsible for maintaining and overseeing an active outpatient clinic. In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the appointee will draw on the environment and the mission of the Cancer Center to participate in novel research programs and lead clinical trials that will be offered to the surrounding community and beyond. Other duties include teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows. It is anticipated that this position can spend time both in Hyde Park, which will be home to a new free-standing Cancer Hospital, and at other ambulatory care sites, including Northwest Indiana, south suburbs of Chicago, and downtown Chicago.
Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. This position is benefits-eligible. The University is home to the NCI-designated Cancer Center at UChicago Medicine, the Ludwig Center for Metastasis Research, and the Neurosciences Institute and the Grossman Center for Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior. The faculty member will join the Cancer Center, and an expanding neurosciences service line, which includes the opportunity to bring neuro-oncology care to locations throughout the Chicagoland region both in and outside of our main campus in Hyde Park.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must : 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) have completed an ACGME accredited residency in neurology, 4) be board certified or board eligible in neurology, and 5) have completed a neuro-oncology fellowship and be UCNS neuro-oncology certified or eligible.
We especially welcome candidates with an interest and background in neuro-oncology research to spearhead clinical and translational neuro-oncology studies, including a track record in conducting clinical trials.
