What we're looking for in a Tax Associate

To thrive as an Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA on our tax team at Comploy, you'll need a blend of technical skills and interpersonal finesse. A solid understanding of tax accounting and compliance is essential, as you'll be managing IRS notices and handling audits with precision. Excellent negotiation skills are a must, as you'll engage directly with IRS agents to address discrepancies, penalties, and payment plans on behalf of our clients. Your communication abilities will shine while advising clients on payroll tax matters and clarifying complex tax procedures. Additionally, a keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills are vital for managing multiple priorities in our fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with various tax software and tools will aid in the seamless preparation, review, and filing of payroll tax returns. Knowledge and skills required for the position are :

  • IRS Compliance & Communication
  • Manage and resolve IRS notices ensuring prompt and accurate responses.
  • Serve as the primary contact for IRS inquiries audits and correspondence related to payroll taxes.
  • Negotiate payment plans resolve penalties and interest and address discrepancies with IRS agents on behalf of clients and the company.
  • Manage and facilitate IRS payroll tax audits including preparing responses and documentation.
  • Tax Operations
  • Prepare review and filing of federal, state and local payroll tax returns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings and maintain compliance across all jurisdictions.
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks; monitor regulatory changes and communicate impacts.
  • Develop and maintain internal tax calendars schedules and process improvements.
  • Client Consultation & Reporting
  • Advise clients on payroll tax matters and assist with questions about tax notices and procedures.
  • Maintain detailed records of tax filings IRS communications and payment activities.
  • Generate reports for internal teams and leadership on tax issues and compliance.
  • Collaboration
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve escalated issues and support special projects.
