Job description

Apply to be a Speech-Language Pathologist with Clear Creek ISD.

Primary Purpose

Plan and provide speech-language pathology services, including evaluations, as required to assist students with disabilities to benefit from special education.

Qualifications

Education / Certification

  • Master's degree or higher in speech-language pathology or equivalent from an accredited / approved college or university program, and Valid Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist granted by the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology, and CCC or TEA certification in Speech-Language Pathology

Or

  • Master's degree or higher in speech-language pathology or equivalent from an accredited / approved college or university program, and Valid Texas license as an Intern in Speech-Language Pathology (CFY) to practice under supervision of CCC-SLP while completing the post-master's degreed 36 week full-time internship
  • Or

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in speech-language pathology or equivalent from an accredited / approved college or university program and Valid Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist granted by the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology, and TEA certification in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Special Knowledge / Skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and demonstrated competency in : speech-language pathology evaluation and therapy procedures for communication disorders; education of diverse student populations; and human development and learning theories
  • Ability to instruct students and manage behavior
  • Openness to change and innovation to meet the needs of all students
  • Experience

    Minimum of one year supervised clinical speech-language pathology experience

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

    Instructional strategies to promote student growth

  • Conduct speech-language evaluations / reevaluations of students referred through special education and provide a written evaluation report for assigned students.
  • Provide speech-language therapy services according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology, CCISD board policies, and administrative guidelines.
  • Plan and provide direct and consultative speech-language pathology services consistent with speech and language goals and objectives contained in the student's IEP for assigned students.
  • Work with other members of general and special education staff and administrators to determine present levels of performance, as well as, goals and objectives for determined areas of need.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student's progress, keep therapy logs for sessions recording progress data, and use results to plan and implement therapy.
  • Review existing therapy data and conduct assessments to determine readiness for dismissal of speech-language pathology services.
  • Work cooperatively with the campus and district instructional supervisors, coordinators, and department leads to improve therapy services.
  • Integrate the instruction of technology into subject area instruction and use available technologies as appropriate therapy and learning tools.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of speech-language pathology assistants, students, and interns.
  • Communication

  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Maintain a professional and cordial relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines regarding confidentiality.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with students, parents, and other staff members.
  • Respond to parent phone calls / messages in a timely manner.
  • Classroom management and organization

  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students.
  • Create an instructional therapy environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the CCISD Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
  • Provide for care and protection of school property and be held accountable for books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Maintains accurate student attendance, therapy session data records, and evaluation reports and protocols in compliance with local and state requirements.
  • Assists in upholding and implementing administrative regulations and board policy.
  • Manage and utilize data effectively for systemic process and program analysis.
  • Account for the accuracy and verification of all student program data and reports.

  • Implement data-driven decision making for improvement efforts based on best practices.
  • Manage and utilize policy effectively for maintaining systemic processes and practices.
  • Account for the verification of the correct policy regarding all decisions and correspondence.

  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
