About The Position

Job Title : Surgical Technologist

Profession : Technician

Specialty : Scrub

Duration : 12 weeks

Shift : Day Shift

Hours per Shift : 8 hours

Experience : Minimum of 1 year of clinical operating room experience

License : Current certification in surgical technology required

Certifications : BLS from the American Heart Association required

Must-Have : Cardiac / vascular and hybrid experience

Description :

To provide safe care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with professional and hospital standards.

Assists in the coordination of patient care and collaborates with other health team members.

Participates in performance improvement activities.

Acts in the role of support during the surgical procedure but not as a surgical assistant.

Creates and maintains asepsis during surgical procedures.

Performs scrubbing duties and communicates patient information as needed.

Accounts for all equipment and supplies used in patient care.

Communicates effectively with peers, other health team members, patients, and visitors.

Maintains adaptability and supports teamwork within the department.

Resolves problems and consistently meets customer service quality standards.

Performs the role of clinical preceptor for scrubbing and collaborates with the patient care coordinator.

Maintains cleanliness in the unit and cares for equipment used during surgical cases.

Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required.

Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures is necessary to provide quality patient care.

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting patients are required.

Intermittent lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs is part of the job demands.

Exposure to blood, body fluids, and potential infectious materials is expected.

Moderate to high noise levels may be present in the work area.

Work under stressful conditions with deadlines may be necessary.

May be required to take call or work weekends / holidays based on departmental needs.

Must meet educational requirements for practicing surgical technology.
