Job Description
Rust Belt Resources has partnered with a growing, national, publicly traded bank seeking a strong Accountant to lead all aspects of employee benefits and equity transactions. This person is primarily responsible for preparing various financial reports, reviewing and analyzing financial data, performing accounting duties, participating in various special projects, assisting in the preparation of budget figures and providing data relative to the corporation's employee benefits and equity compensation programs.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Conducts the accounting and financial reporting of the corporation's various employee benefit programs.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to calculate budget and accrual amounts for company provided benefits and to elevate unusual results or trends to the attention of management.
- Prepares various financial reports accurately and timely for presentation to senior managers.
- Prepares and / or reviews monthly account reconciliations for all benefit related general ledger accounts. Verifies the calculation of monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintains statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs.
- Coordinates preparation and filing of government reports for the pension plan, as well as the annual Form 5500 filings for the pension, 401(k) and welfare plans.
- Compiles data and coordinates completion of 401(k) non-discrimination testing. Coordinates the external employee benefit plan audits for the pension and 401(k) plans.
- Assists with the administration of restricted stock awards. Responsible for accurate accounting of all outstanding awards, grants, forfeitures and vesting.
- Acts as subject matter expert to coordinate the activities between payroll, benefits accounting, compensation and equity vendor for grants and vesting.
- Assists with the administration of stock option awards. Responsible for accurate recordkeeping of all outstanding awards, forfeitures and expirations. Verifies the calculation of taxable income and notifies appropriate internal parties of exercises.
- Conducts timely and accurate accounting of restricted stock awards. Compiles data needed by the Finance department for the quarterly financial statement disclosure to the SEC. Recommends changes to related policies and procedures as accounting rules change and updates are needed.
Requirements
Related Bachelor's Degree
5+ years of experience
Excellent project management skills
Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
Ability to work and multi-task in a fast paced environment
Detail-oriented
Advanced Excel skills
Knowledge of general ledger and HRIS systems, benefits, compensation and payroll functions and bank regulations concerning benefit accounting functions

Salary - $80,000 - $90,000
