Before and After School Aides

Under the direction of a program director and / or school administrator, an ESS before and after school staff supplement student education and assist with instructional, behavior management, and / or administrative duties. They support the physical, behavioral, and academic needs of a group of students during the hours before and after the school day.

Responsibilities

Provide instructional reinforcement to assist with homework for individual students and / or small groups of students

Assist director with management and general supervision of the students, following the programs established routines and procedures

Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute assigned

Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs / 504 Plans

Supervise and observe student behavior and progress

Assist with administrative duties as directed such as setting up equipment, preparing materials, etc.

Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs; help with translation and hygienic needs when necessary

Promote a safe and orderly environment; take all reasonable precautions to protect students, facilities, and materials

Assist with arrival and departure of students

Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by school administration and ESS

Understand and adhere to all ESS and school district policies and procedures

Qualifications

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED

Valid NJ criminal history letter

Negative tuberculosis test obtained within 6 months of initial employment
