Job Description
Oversees the planning, organization and supervision of the activities of the Accounting Managers and accounting staff within the Finance Division. These activities include, among others, general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable and general ledger posting. Administers and directs all steps necessary to main a constructive working environment which will allow the department to continually develop and achieve consistent operating efficiencies. Completes staff evaluation(s). Manages the quality of the company's reconciliations by overseeing the preparation and sharing in the review of the quarterly general ledger and internal DDA account reconciliations. This position will be responsible for assisting the Controller with developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements including the month-end closing process. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. This position will work closely with the Accounting Business Systems Analyst and Human Resources in maintaining the Oracle Fusion environment, including patches and upgrades. This position will have contact with senior-level employees which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Responsibilities
Oversee activities of the Accounting Managers and accounting staff including the general ledger, accounts payable, and senior accounting staff functions. Supervise the Accounting Managers and accounting staff by :
Oversee month-end closing activities, including ensuring all activities are recorded in the proper periods and properly classified on the financial statements
Support Oracle Financials ERP
Participates in quarterly review of all corporate reconciliations to ensure compliance with Corporate Reconciliation Policy.
Integrate accounting processes from acquired banks
Assist with due diligence regarding bank acquisitions
Problem Solving & Decision Making
This position will need to make accounting decisions with regards to overseeing accounting staff and overseeing the month-end closing process under the direction of the Controller. Reconciliation reviews of various areas will also require problem solving and decision making skills and an overall understanding of the Bank's activities. Computer system upgrades / projects also require a lot of problem solving and decision making.
