Responsibilities

The Corporate Vice President of Communications and Public Relations is a strategic leader responsible for extensive writing, editing, planning, development, and execution of the organization’s communications and public relations. This leadership position is a key representative of Prime Healthcare with internal and external stakeholders and serves as the primary spokesperson. The role involves hands-on leadership in developing and deploying corporate communications, media relations, investor communications, government relations support, and PR / community engagement activities. This leader oversees a team responsible for internal communications, executive communications, PR and media relations, crisis communications, corporate sponsorships, Prime Healthcare Foundation activities, website development, digital marketing, and social media strategy. Collaboration with hospital leadership across the system is essential, with hospital communications teams reporting indirectly to this role.

Qualifications

Required qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • 10+ years of successful communications experience in a healthcare delivery setting; 10+ years of leading and executing communications at the C-suite level.
  • Proven track record of effective communication with senior executives, board members, physician leaders, elected officials, and community stakeholders.
  • Relationship-building experience with local and national media, including Becker’s Healthcare and Modern Healthcare.
  • Demonstrated success leading corporate and regional communications, executive communications, crisis management, media relations, and public relations, including labor-related communications.
  • A hands-on, collaborative leader who develops materials under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, communication, planning, and leadership skills; diplomatic, with the ability to foster positive relationships across the health system.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring abilities.

Preferred qualifications :

  • Experience in a large, complex (matrixed) national health system.
  • Experience with investor relations.
  • Knowledge of government relations and working with elected officials and stakeholders.
  • Connections or experience with national news media in key markets (LA, NYC, Midwest).
  • Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or Journalism.
  • Prime Healthcare offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, a 401K plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and voluntary benefits. The estimated total annual compensation ranges from $214,240 to $300,000, depending on various factors such as location, experience, and credentials. Employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses based on performance.
