Adjunct Faculty, Sociology

Position Summary

Prairie State College is seeking candidates to expand our pool of adjunct faculty to teach Sociology in person at our Chicago Heights campus or as dual credit in high schools. Qualified candidates are needed for Introduction to Sociology, Marriage and the Family, and Gender Studies.

Candidates should explore innovative approaches to enhance student learning and provide high quality instruction so that each student may meet course expectations. Successful candidates will be responsible for effectively preparing, teaching, grading, and assessing student learning and collaborating with their coordinator, Dean, and colleagues to improve the student learning experience. Candidates must also be able to utilize a variety of technology-based programs related to student instruction.

• Master’s Degree in Sociology or 18 graduate hours in the discipline
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Commitment to the mission of the community college
• Demonstrated ability in the Prairie State College general education learning outcome areas of Communication, Creative Thinking, Cultural Understanding, Information Literacy, and Problem Solving
