Your role as a Surgical Technologist I means you’ll make a meaningful impact every day in the Operating Room through your attention to detail and ability to thrive in high-pressure settings.
Schedule / Hours : Full-time, evening shift with 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, including the majority of on-call responsibilities during overnight hours and some weekends in an 8-week scheduling period. Call hours may vary.
Job Description :
Maintain a clean and safe operating room by utilizing aseptic surgical techniques and ensuring all materials and instruments are prepared for surgical procedures.Assist with various procedures while demonstrating and maintaining a basic understanding of multiple surgical techniques.Ensure operating room efficiency by properly setting up and managing equipment for cases.Act as a Second Assistant as necessary, supporting the surgical team during procedures.Notify appropriate staff regarding any issues with equipment or supplies.Transport patients and equipment with care.Maintain specialty carts ensuring completeness and availability of necessary items.Show knowledge of patient care at varying ages, and effectively position and transport patients as needed.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 6 months unless otherwise determined by the department leader.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.Experience Required :
No prior experience required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Understanding of aseptic techniques and equipment used in surgery.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic proficiency in computer use.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.Physical capability to lift and carry weight as needed, including :Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waistLift up to 20 lbs. overheadCarry up to 40 lbs. over a reasonable distancePush / pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform transfers of patients as necessary.Ability to function using specialized equipment in a sterile environment.Must comply with safety protocols, including the use of protective gear.This job description outlines the key responsibilities and requirements, but may include additional duties as needed.
