This position reports to the Sr. Director, FDA Regulatory Affairs & Food Safety and will support all applicable Central animal food facilities, distribution centers, and third-party manufacturers as well as other Central business units.
The FSRA Manager's principal responsibility will be to ensure that Central facilities and products meet all applicable local, state, and federal regulations as well as food safety regulatory requirements. The position includes interacting directly with Operational leaders, site Quality Managers and other employees focusing on supporting our food safety initiatives and regulatory compliance. The position will also center on supporting the Sr. Director, FDA Regulatory Affairs & Food Safety while assuring FDA, other federal, state, and local government and all applicable regulatory compliance for Central products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure our facilities manufacturing pet food and animal feed are compliant with FDA food safety regulatory requirements
- Responsible for creating and / or reviewing Food Safety Plans and Foreign Supplier Verification Programs for food facilities
- Conduct annual audits of Food Safety Plans and assist with hazard analyses
- Maintain professional working relationships with quality, operations and plant management.
- Exercises plant floor leadership skills to ensure strict adherence to plant policies, rules, regulatory compliance, and Central's business units' quality policies
- Be an advocate willing to work to change the safety culture through positive influence and collaborative partnership within manufacturing operations
- Ensure compliance of current products by reviewing and approving labels, ads, websites, blogs, social media, and other promotional materials; adverse event reporting; food facility registrations; creation and application of department procedures / policies, etc.; and, other duties as required / requested by the Senior Director, FDA Regulatory Affairs & Food Safety
- Develop content and format for regulatory submissions, such as amendments or supplements, for existing New Animal Drug Applications (NADAs) and Abbreviated New Animal Drug Applications (ANADAs).
- Assist with timely approval of registrations and renewals to include state regulatory agencies for drugs, feeds, remedies, NASC, and other applicable products, as appropriate
- Assist New Product Development in working through regulatory product approval processes in the U.S. and overseas
- Support Regulatory department employees
