Adecco is currently assisting a local client recruiting for a Warehouse and Assembly Material Handler in NORTH HAVEN CT. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity, with a starting pay rate of $18.00 / hour, plus overtime. As a Material Handler, you'll play an important role in making sure large freight gets where it needs to go, which includes physical inventory movement and product assembly. Responsibilities : This role focuses on inventory handling, heavy freight movement, and product assembly (Peloton bikes). Your day-to-day will look like : Systematically and physically move freight : Scan items out of their location and move them to the dock, staging them in the proper lane for the next day's truck routes (cabinets, TVs, stoves, washers, dryers, mattresses, refrigerators, furniture). Receive and process returns : Systematically receive returns and physically put them away in the proper location. Unload trailers using pallet jacks and hand trucks for large appliances and furniture (items ranging from 50500 lbs). Peloton Assembly (Training Provided) : Remove bikes from pallets (approx. 153 lbs), open boxes, remove all parts, assemble the bike according to SOP, wrap the finished bike, and stage it. Warehouse upkeep : Take care of trash the teams bring back from the previous day, sweep, and keep the warehouse clean. Assist with general shipping and receiving activities, reading customer orders, and monitoring daily pick-ups / deliveries. Requirements : At a minimum, you'll need : To be at least 18 years of age. The ability to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator. Ability to load and unload trucks. Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 75 pounds. Environmental Note : This is not a climate-controlled building. You must be comfortable working in a warehouse environment that gets hot during the summer and cold during the winter months. It'd be great if you also have : Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry. Experience loading and unloading trailers. Forklift experience in a freight or Less-than-Truckload (LTL) environment. Experience using handheld scanners. Basic written and verbal communication skills.
